Kapil Dev made his debut in first-class cricket playing for his home state, Haryana. He joined the Indian national team during the 1978-79 Test Series against Pakistan. Mr. Dev became India’s first genuine fast bowler and subsequently spearheaded the country’s bowling attack for the following two decades. He concluded his Test career with an outstanding record of 434 wickets in 131 Test matches—a record surpassed in 2000 by Jamaica’s Courtney Walsh—with 23 matches in which he took five wickets. In one-day internationals, he claimed 253 wickets in 225 games.

Mr. Dev has been the recipient of two of India’s highest civilian honors: the Padma Shri in 1982 and the Padma Bhushan in 1991. In 2002, he was bestowed the title of Indian Cricketer of the Century, and in 2010, he was inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame.

Ms. Ira Trivedi has garnered numerous awards for her impactful work. Among her accolades are the UK Media Award, earned for her profound work on bride trafficking, and the New Indian Express Devi Women’s Award, which recognized her dynamism and innovation. In 2017, BBC distinguished her as one of the 100 most influential women globally.

Beyond these accomplishments, Ms Trivedi is revered as a Yoga Acharya or Master of Yoga. She hosts two yoga-centric shows in India: one on Doordarshan National, the national channel, and another on India Today, a preeminent English channel. Notably, she played a key role during the inaugural International Day of Yoga at Rajpath, New Delhi, an event that culminated in the creation of two Guinness World Records – for the largest yoga lesson and the most nationalities participating in a yoga lesson.

Academically, she holds a BA in Economics from Wellesley College, Massachusetts, USA, and secured her MBA from Columbia Business School. There, she was honoured with the esteemed Feldberg Fellowship for showcasing extraordinary leadership potential alongside academic brilliance. Presently, Ms Trivedi resides in New Delhi, India.
